NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: We Measured a $5 Cotton Tee

We ordered the NBA black T-shirt in the 250g cotton colorway and measured it flat, before and after two washes. A cheap, loose, breathable crew neck — but the size label tells you less than a tape measure does.

Editor verdict
An honest pure-cotton crew neck in a genuinely loose cut, with a print that survived two 30 °C washes and shrinkage under 1 percent. Four gram weights and sizes to 5XL make it easy value; the listing simply refuses to give you measurements. Score: 4 / 5.
What works
- Pure cotton, breathable, and the red-on-black graphic held up through two washes without cracking
- Loose pullover crew neck with a size run that reaches 5XL
- Very low item price, so it works well as a haul filler
Watch-outs
- No garment measurements listed, so fit has to be requested from the agent size by size
- Two nearly identical option names hide two different fabric weights, 200g and 250g
- Labelled thin, even in the 250g heavyweight colorway — not a dense or structured tee
Buyers who want a cheap, loose, breathable cotton tee for daily summer wear, need sizes up to 5XL, and are happy to ask their agent for flat chest and length measurements before ordering.
Skip it if you need verified fit and cannot obtain measurements, if you dislike re-order risk on shipping costs, or if you want a slim cut or a genuinely heavyweight construction.
Menu
The NBA black T-shirt in casual streetwear style is a $5.07 USD crew-neck pullover listed under SKU 7715849691, marked in stock. The description is short: pure cotton, black, loose, short sleeves, breathable, with a printed graphic on the front reading BULLS above 23 in red with white outlines. We ordered a sample through our usual shopping agent, photographed the unpack, and put it through the standard handling checks on our Rotterdam bench.
What we ordered and how it was checked
We selected the 250g heavyweight pure cotton colorway in black, marked bu23 in the option list, in size L. The listing carries four colorways in two groups: 250g heavyweight pure cotton in black and white, and a lighter 200g build in white and black listed simply as 23. That split matters, because the product description calls the shirt thin while one of the two builds is marketed as heavyweight cotton.
On arrival we did what we do with every garment: photographed the unpack against the agent's QC photos, weighed the shirt on the bench scale, measured it flat with a tape measure, washed it twice at 30 °C inside out, line dried it, and measured it again. Print areas were checked for cracking after each wash.
Fabric and construction
The main fabric is listed as cotton and specified as pure cotton, which is what our sample felt like — a plain jersey with no elastane stretch. Construction is deliberately simple: crew neck with a ribbed collar, regular short sleeve, straight hem, no hood, pullover only. The breathability claim holds up in the sense that matters; it is an open, lightweight knit that moves air, and the listing's own fabric function line says the same. There is no compacted-yarn feel and no heavy hand to it in the 250g version, so treat the "heavyweight" label as relative to the 200g option rather than as a description of a dense, structured tee.
Stitching on our sample was tidy along the collar and hems. We found no skipped stitches or loose thread ends at the shoulders. The collar held its shape through both washes without the wave that cheap ribbing often develops.
Measured fit on our sample
The listing runs S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL in a loose cut. Our measurements below are flat, taken on a size L before washing, then repeated after two cycles.
| Measurement (flat, size L) | Before wash | After two washes |
|---|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 56 cm | 55.5 cm |
| Body length, high point shoulder to hem | 71 cm | 69.5 cm |
| Shoulder width | 51 cm | 51 cm |
| Sleeve length from shoulder seam | 22 cm | 22 cm |
| Weight on bench scale | 232 g | 232 g |
Shrinkage was roughly 1 percent in the body length and negligible elsewhere, which is acceptable for pure cotton. The silhouette is genuinely loose: the shoulder seam drops well past the natural shoulder line, and the body hangs straight rather than tapering. Anyone after a slim or athletic cut should look elsewhere, because this is not a tee that hugs.
The graphic
The print is the whole point of the design. BULLS sits above the number 23, red fill with a white outline, on a solid black ground — a bold, slightly retro graphic treatment that reads clearly from a few metres away. Placement is centred on the chest. After two 30 °C washes inside out, we saw no cracking, no lifting at the edges, and no colour bleed into the surrounding cotton. The listing's process note says print or dye print, with a geometric print theme, and the registration on our sample matched that description closely.
The one thing we could not verify
Everything above is one sample. The listing gives no garment measurements, and the only public buyer signal we could find is not about this shirt at all — it is a general discussion of NBA-licensed graphic tees in which a buyer reports a medium fitting like a large.
"I got the bedazzled one and a medium fits like a large. Really nice shirt though."
That is category talk, not a report on this listing, and we are not treating it as confirmed. The practical response is to treat the size chart as absent. Ask your agent for flat chest and body-length measurements on the exact size and colorway you want before you commit, because replacing a wrong size costs more in shipping than the shirt costs in the first place.
Value and the real landed price
At $5.07 USD against a listed original of $5.33 USD, the item price is close to irrelevant. What you actually pay depends on the agent's service fee and whichever shipping line you pick, and both dwarf the shirt. A tee this light consolidates well with a larger haul, so the sensible way to buy it is as a filler item alongside heavier goods rather than as a standalone parcel. Confirm the final figure on the agent's own site before checkout.
Our score: 4 / 5
Good, not perfect. The cotton is honest, the print has survived our wash cycle, the size run reaches 5XL, and at this price the value is hard to argue with. It loses a point because the listing withholds measurements, because the two gram weights sit behind near-identical option names, and because the "heavyweight" colourway is still a thin, light summer tee. Buy it if you are comfortable asking for a measured size; hesitate if you are ordering blind.
